Youth Hiding Drugs? What Adults Need to Know

Chautauqua Alcohol & Substance Abuse Council (CASAC) is offering an educational session for community members and professionals entitled “Youth Hiding Drugs? What Adults Need to Know.”

Laurie Reynolds, MS and CASAC Director of Program Services will present this session on Thursday, April 13, 2017 from 9:30 am – 11:30 am. This 2 hour course is offered at the Salvation Army, 83 South Main Street, Jamestown, NY 14701

It’s important for families and professionals to stay vigilant on what youth are doing. Some drugs are hidden in plain sight. This is a training that will show the drug paraphernalia that youth use to hide different substances. The training will include information on how they are smuggling their alcohol, drugs, as well as vaping products to be discreet with using their drug of choice. We will also be discussing some current trends in Chautauqua County while discovering the different types of strategies that families, schools and communities can utilize to help combat these current trends.

This course is suitable for those seeking professional credentialing as a Credentialed Alcoholism and Substance Abuse Counselor (CASAC), Credentialed Prevention Professional (CPP) or Credentialed Prevention Specialist (CPS). This is a 2 hour CPP/CPS, (Section 1) CASAC Renewal by the New York State Office of Alcohol and Substance Abuse Services.

CASAC training offerings are suitable for community members that are aspiring to learn more about addictions and other related topics to improve their lives and the lives of others.

CASAC offers a number of community and professional educational opportunities throughout the year. Individualized on-site training, depending upon staff needs, is available. All trainings can be designed either as an in-service training, conference or workshop.
