Wegmans Fall Golf Outing Raises Record-Breaking Amount for Area United Ways

The 2023 Wegmans Fall Golf Outing held Wednesday, Sept. 13 at the Chautauqua Golf Club raised a record-breaking amount of more than $19,200 for United Ways in Southern Chautauqua and Erie counties.

Now in its 13th year, the event featured more than 50 local businesses and vendors who supported the fundraiser through tastings, hole sponsorships and by donating raffle items.

A total of 39 teams participated in the scramble, with employees from 11 stores in Erie, Jamestown & Buffalo both playing golf as well as orchestrating and staffing the day’s activities.

“Our team wants to send the most sincere thanks to our local community and our incredible employees here at Wegmans Jamestown for truly making a difference and showing up in a big way,” said Danielle Stone, Service Area Manager at Wegmans in Jamestown, as well as a past Campaign Chair for the United Way of Southern Chautauqua County.

“Because of their generous donations,” Stone continued, “our United Way in Chautauqua County and the United Way in Erie, Pa. will have the funds needed to make a lasting impact on so many lives.”

Stone added that Wegmans says it best with the company’s motto “Good people, working toward a common goal, can accomplish anything they set out to do.”

The 2023 Wegmans Golf Outing came just a day before United Way of Southern Chautauqua County officially kicked off its 2023 fundraising campaign. Funds from the golf event will go toward United Way trying to meet this year’s fundraising goal of $1.4 million dollars.
