UPMC Chautauqua Will Host Medication Assisted Treatment Basic Training for Providers

UPMC Chautauqua WCA, Chautauqua County Health Network, and Chautauqua Region Associated Medical Partners will host a basic training for providers entitled, “Medication Assisted Treatment (MAT) — Basic Training for Providers,” on Wednesday, July 11 from 8:30 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. at Jones Memorial Health Center, 51 Glasgow Ave., Jamestown.

Clinical staff, physicians, and health care providers are welcome to attend. Advanced registration is encouraged. For more information or to register for the free training course, contact Marcus Stendahl, program coordinator, at 716-664-8596.

The training is designed to help educate participants on the research and effectiveness of medication assisted treatment (MAT) in addition to best practices.

Todd Mandell, MD, and Peter Rockholz, LCSW, event facilitators, will discuss MAT for opioid use disorders, including:

  • The nature of addiction as a disease of the brain.
  • The pharmacology of MAT for opioid use disorders.
  • Common issues related to MAT adoption and implementation.
  • Best practices in MAT delivery within various settings and issues with special populations.

The event will include small group and round-table discussions.
