Tis the Season

We live in the richest country the world has ever known. We have a lot to be thankful for. Unfortunately, we still have people even in our own country that go without at this time of year. Please consider giving a gift to the local soup kitchen so that others can also enjoy this holiday season.

The main question people ask me when they come in to my office is: “Why am I so sick?” Most people feel they are doing many things that are good for them based on popular wisdom.

Unfortunately, a lot of popular wisdom comes from advertising which is generally tilted to selling their product. A prime example of this has been the advertising for cereal. A cereal company recently was ordered to stop printing on their boxes that their cereal was a heart healthy choice. The reason they were ordered to stop was that there are no studies showing eating grains reduces your chance of heart attack. I just checked and they have reworded their box to say their cereal may reduce your cholesterol. They are still trying to imply cereal is good for the heart, but multiple studies have pointed out that grains cause inflammation. Inflammation is one of the leading causes of heart attacks and strokes.

Health care providers are equally affected by advertising as everyone else. My odyssey to change how I was eating started, because I was doing everything “right” and I still felt terrible. I realized conventional wisdom in the US about diet doesn’t work and I set out to figure out what humans should be eating.

I changed my eating habits and I lost 40 lbs. All my aches and pains disappeared and people started thinking I was 15 years younger than I was. I helped my wife change her diet and her hormonal problems disappeared while she lost 25 lbs. The best news is that once you change it is easy keep the weight off and feel good.

If you are feeling unhealthy, give yourself the best Christmas gift, start on the road to renewed health! We can help you!
