Chautauqua Regional Youth Ballet
Tickets are now on sale for Chautauqua Regional Youth Ballet’s 2018 Spring Gala Performance. CRYB is very excited to announce that the production, under the artistic direction of Monika Alch, will be performed in the newly renovated Amphitheater at Chautauqua Institution this year. The performance is Friday, June 15th at 7:30 pm. The program will feature all the students of CRYB in a mixed program featuring classical and contemporary repertoire. Guest performers are Brittany Bush and Spencer Keith from the Jose Mateo Ballet Theatre in Boston. In addition to regular tickets CRYB is offering a special VIP ticket which will include a catered pre-show reception in one of the new reception rooms at the Amphitheater.
The first half of the program will feature students from Creative Dance up through Advanced in a ballet suite to music by Saint-Saëns, including Carnival of the Animals, and choreographed by CRYB faculty. Rounding out Act 1 is “Until the Dawn” a new modern work for CRYB’s Advanced students choreographed by CRYB Modern Instructor Sukanya Burman in the style of Martha Graham.
The second half of the program will highlight CRYB’s Pre-Professional students and will feature the Red Violin Suite and excerpts from the ballet La Bayadère. Solos and demi-solos will be performed by Megan Stefanik, Cate Walter, Maya Swanson and Cecelia Johnson. Guest performers Brittany Bush and Spencer Keith. Mr. Keith will perform the famous Golden Idol variation from La Bayadère and will dance a Pas-de-Deux from the ballet with Ms. Bush.
Brittany was born and raised in Jamestown, NY and received her early dance training with Monika Alch at the
Chautauqua Regional Youth Ballet, She also attended programs at the New York State Summer School of the Arts, BalletMet Columbus, Boston Ballet, and Jose Mateo Ballet Theatre. She went on to continue her training at the SUNY Purchase Conservatory of Dance, graduating with a Bachelor of Fine Arts degree in dance. Brittany joined Jo s e Mateo Ballet Theatre as an apprentice in 2013, and was promoted to a full company member in 2014.
Spencer was born in Romania and raised in Honolulu, HI. He received his training at Academie de Danse Classique Princesse Grace, Woodbury Ballet and Hawaii State Ballet and was taught by instructors Randyl Errica, Marika Besobrasova and John Landovsky. In 2008 Spencer was invited to participate in the Bolshoi Ballet Academy’s Gala performance. He was awarded a gold medal for pas de deux in the Connecticut Classic Competition in 2011 and a silver medal for variation in 2012. Spencer joined Josè Mateo Ballet Theatre in 2011.Tickets may be purchased online at www.cryb.net and clicking on Spring Gala, also at www.chq.org or by calling 716-357-6250.
