Tickets are now on sale for Chautauqua Regional Youth Ballet’s 2017 Spring Gala Performance. The production, under the artistic direction of Monika Alch, will be presented on Saturday, June 17 at 7 p.m. at the Reg Lenna Center for the Arts. The program will feature all the students of CRYB in a mixed program featuring classical and contemporary repertoire.
The first half of the program will highlight CRYB students in Creative Dance through Intermediate 2 dancing to music from “The Fairy Doll” by Bayer.
The second half of the program will feature CRYB’s Advanced and Pre-professional students and will offer three original ballet works and a contemporary work. The ballet pieces are set to music from John Corigliano’s “Red Violin”, Verdi’s “Spring” and the first movement of the Bach double concerto in A-minor. The contemporary work is set to music from Mozart’s “Requiem.” There will also be a violin interlude performed by CRYB students Aaron and Boaz Mecham.
Artistic Director Monika Alch credits CRCF for supporting new choreography residencies this past winter with choreographers Michael Cerwinski from New York City and Brittany Bush from Jose Mateo Ballet in Boston. During these week-long workshops, the artists set the Verdi and Mozart pieces on the CRYB dancers. “We are excited to share this new and exciting choreography with our audiences!”
Seating is reserved and tickets are available at the Reg Lenna Center for the Arts at the Box Office, 716-484-7070, and online at www.reglenna.com.
