On June 2nd, stay after Storytime at 11:30 for an easy Kool-Aid wool dying activity for all ages. Learn about natural dying techniques, and take home a kit and instructions on using household materials to dye yarn or fabric naturally. Join us to learn how these fun and easy techniques work!
Wednesday, June 9th, at 10:30 am, Joanna will read a story at the Fenton History Center. She will celebrate their new exhibit, Protest and Pride: The LGBTQ+ Community in Chautauqua County. This event is streamed live on Facebook, so join us there.
June 9th is the first day Jamestown Public Market’s Mobile Market will be at the Prendergast Library from 11:30-12:30; free books, activities, Storytime, and more! Your library is the place to be on Wednesdays this summer!
On June 28th, our Summer Reading Challenge will start with free Kick-Off Kits available while supplies last. Sign up for a summer of fun, activities, prizes, crafts, and reading!
There will also be free ‘Mend Don’t Spend: Help the Environment and Your Pocket Book’ kits available at Prendergast Library while supplies last. The basic supplies found in the kit will help you to learn some fun visible mending techniques. We created videos for how to do some basic mending techniques. The videos will post to our YouTube channel on June 28th.
Throughout the summer, we will also be running a survey about the types of Children’s Books you and your children like to read. They include Picture Books, Easy Reader, Graphic Novels, Juvenile Fiction, and Non-Fiction.
Thanks to the Fiction surveys from earlier this year, we have focused on increasing our multi-cultural fiction and our literary fiction per the survey results. Please keep your input coming. We would love to hear what you have to say!
