The Jamestown Community College EmpowerMe! Student Club, the local chapter of the American Association of University Women and the Salvation Army Anew Center will host “Take Back the Night” at JCC on Monday, April 30, 5:30 – 7:00 p.m. in the JCC Student Union.

“Take Back the Night” is a student driven collaboration campus event and we invite the Jamestown community to come together for women’s rights and human rights to end sexual harassment, sexual assault and violence against women. With the #MeToo movement in an unprecedented spotlight it is important to have these public conversations in our community. The AAUW advances equity for women and girls through advocacy, education, philanthropy and research. We believe everyone has a role to play in intervention and only in coming together can we begin to create a culture of respect, equality and safety.

“Take Back the Night” is free and everyone in the community is invited. Baked goods and refreshments will be provided. Everyone attending our campus-walk and keynote speakers program will receive a “Take Back the Night” backpack and information on sexual assault prevention and safety on campus and in our Jamestown community.
