SUNY Jamestown Community College is offering students the opportunity to travel to Costa Rica during their spring break for a hands-on, service-learning experience in ecotourism operations and responsible travel.

The study abroad program is part of the two-credit class, Ecotourism in Costa Rica, that begins Feb. 28 at JCC. The travel portion of the course is set for March 20-29.

Cost of the class is $3,700, plus tuition for part-time students. A first payment of $370 is due by Dec. 1. Financial aid and scholarships may be available.

The fee includes airfare, lodging, meals, excursions to the Veragua Rainforest and Arenal Volcano, whitewater rafting, coffee and chocolate tours, and other activities.

The experience helps students globalize their learning and apply classroom information to real-world experiences. This course also provides service learning opportunities that connect students with the community and culture.
