The world is currently on pause. Certainly we have all dealt with difficult challenges in our lives. Life is basically one challenge after another. What we are experiencing is a temporary situation. We can’t let this get the best of us!

Now is the time to make the best of this situation. Here are a few suggestions to help everyone get through this challenge a little easier.

One of the first and most important thing you can do is to set a schedule for yourself and your family. Plan on getting up at the same time every morning. Keep your normal hygiene schedule. Try to go for a walk or do some exercise. Your exercise can be a cardio workout or something as simple as chair yoga. Check with your physician before starting any exercise program. No need to stay up all night. Plan on getting at least 6-8 hours of quality sleep. Remember our ancestors went to bed at dusk and got up at dawn.

It’s important to have a plan for the day but stay flexible. Instead of asking “What can I do today?”,

replace it with “I am going to do ________ today!”. Plan to do something, clean a closet, try a new recipe or start your spring cleaning. If something comes up and you don’t get it done, it’s okay, save it for another day.

Reduce your stress. Stress can take a toll on our immune system. Watch a comedy, read a book, sip a cup of tea or learn to meditate. Currently headspace.com/ny is offering free meditation exercises.

We are a very social society. We can feel alone and isolated during this stay at home period. Call your family or friends, either on a daily or weekly basis. Feel free to video chat as well. This could be beneficial to all parties concerned!

Now is the time to consider changing your diet! Our best defense against any sickness is our immune system. Our immune system is at it’s best when we eliminate sugar and carbs, eat organic food, drink plenty of water and of course take our supplements.
