Following an initiative to bring awareness to the needs of the Starflight medevac program, the Chautauqua Region Community Foundation awarded the lifesaving service with a $2,000 grant. The money represented an Advised Fund grant made from the Edwin J. and Katherine M. Hegstedt Memorial Fund. The grant will be used to help offset the costs of replacing the stretcher in each one of the aircraft. “We are thrilled to be offered a grant from the Chautauqua Region Community Foundation. Much like Starflight, the Community Foundation betters the lives of residents living in greater Chautauqua County. We are happy to have the Foundation’s support.” says David Thomas, on behalf of Starflight, Inc.
Starflight is a local not-for-profit medevac service that has been serving the communities of Chautauqua, Cattaraugus, Warren, Allegany and McKean Counties since 1986. Since its inception, the program has made over 8,000 flights for the most critically ill and injured patients. Continued support from community members much like the Chautauqua Region Community Foundation make it possible for these transports to be made.
