Free Books for Kids Town is presenting National Free Comic Book Day in Warren on Saturday, May 6, 11 a.m. – 3 p.m.

Director Ruby Wiles says, “Mark your calendars for a day of fun! We will be giving away over 1,000 free comic books, one to a customer, on a first come, first served basis.”

Comic books will be given out at Kids Town Books in Warren Antiques, 306 Second Avenue, Warren.

Kids Town Books opens at 10 a.m. Comic books will be given away from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. Titles include Star Wars, Dog Man, Baby-Sitters Club, Spidey, Avengers and many more.

Proposed in 2001, Free Comic Book Day is observed annually on the first Saturday in May.

While the event was created to promote comic books and local comic book shops, “Reading and having books in their home is so important to a child’s development and their ultimate success in life,” Wiles says. “And it doesn’t matter whether the books are hardcover, paperback, or comic!”

Warren’s celebration is in partnership with Comic and Paperbacks Plus of Palmyra, Pa.
