Neighborhood Safety Night

Neighborhood Safety Night, hosted and organized by Elisabeth Rankin, County Legislator, was held at Christ First United Methodist Church in Jamestown.

This is the second sponsored event due to COVID.

The attendees raised many important issues and expressed appreciation for the police. The officers addressed questions about crime prevention at home and in the neighborhood, talked about how to handle problem neighbors, addressed concerns about police funding and resources, talked about drug overdose, narcan use, use of body cams and other topics.

Tony Dolce, city council president, and Kim Ecklund, city council member at large addressed concerns about the city police budget and Jeff Russell, city council member at large raised issues of needs and support for the police.

The police response was led by Officer Matthew Rhinehart, community resource officer, with support from Officers Mike Yezzi and Jose Moya.
