Local Red Cross Recognizes Blood Milestones, Announces Change In Hours

Three blood donors recently reached milestones donating blood with the American Red Cross of Southwestern New York.

Jessie Bloomquist of Kennedy completed her 11th gallon of blood donated. Steve Koehler of West Ellicott completed his 24th gallon of blood donated, and Chuck Brininger of Jamestown completed his 100th pint of blood donated, making him eligible for the Century Club.

Those who wish to donate blood may stop into the Fralick Donation Center, located at 325 E. 4th St., Jamestown in the Red Cross building. Effective February 1st, 2014, the donation center will be open the first Wednesday of the month, and all other weeks on Thursday from 12:30-5:30.

To donate blood you need to be 17 years of age (16 with prior parental consent), in general good health and weigh at least 110 pounds. You can make an appointment by calling 1-800-733-2767 or visit www.redcrossblood.org/nyp.
