Library to Host Trowel Talks

Prendergast Library will host three “Trowel Talks,” workshops put together by Master Gardeners this spring.

The first session, Garden Basics, is set for 6 p.m. to 7 p.m. Wednesday, April 24. Individuals will learn how to identify a location, prepare the location for planting, select seeds and start seeds. Techniques that have been used by gardeners in our community will be discussed.

The topic from 6 p.m. to 7 p.m. Wednesday, May 8, is Eco Friendly Gardening. Those attending will learn about using and reusing items, making wise use of resources, fertilizing, watering, composting and mulching.

Make a Bucket Garden is the subject from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. Wednesday, May 22. Attendees will learn about container gardening, plant selection, and requirements. They will also plant a small garden in a bucket to take home.

All sessions are free and open to the public. To sign up, stop at the Information Desk or call 484-7135. The library is located at 509 Cherry Street, Jamestown.
