Library to Host Program for Caregivers

Prendergast Library will host a free three-part program for caregivers from 5 to 6 p.m. on Tuesdays Sept. 13, 20 and 27 in cooperation with the Western New York Chapter of the Alzheimer’s Association.

“Tips for Caregivers: Helping You and Your Loved One Live with Dementia” will offer suggestions and support on issues such as symptoms, safety, relationships, behaviors, communication, care options, coping, and the need for caregivers to take care of themselves.

According to presenter Julia Szprygada, director of education and training for the Alzheimer’s Association, “When someone you care about has Alzheimer’s Disease or another type of dementia, it can be a lot to handle.”

A Walk to End Alzheimer’s will be held Saturday, Oct. 1 at Point Gratiot Park in Dunkirk.
