Fred Larson, former Chautauqua County Attorney from 1998-2005 and member of the County’s Industrial Parks Task Force in 1998-1999, is calling for an expansion of the County’s Industrial Parks in the Greater Jamestown area.

Larson said “As a retired City Court Judge, I am running to get my County Legislature District 12 seat back because of my long commitment to economic development in Chautauqua County.”

Larson continued,”We must have shovel-ready sites available to our industries that may need to expand or to attract new industries and businesses to the Jamestown area. Right now we do not have those shovel-ready sites.”

The former County Attorney explained, “shovel-ready sites have made it through the State Environmental Quality Review process, they are zoned properly for industry, they have roads, sewer, water, gas, electric and storm sewers in place. It takes hard work and time by the County government to make this all happen.”

“As a result of the work of the Industrial Parks Task Force in 1998-1999, the County government committed itself to open up the County Industrial Park in Busti where Southern Tier Brewing was born and has grown and opened up a new section of the County Industrial Park in the Falconer area where Serta Mattress built its first manufacturing facility in New York State,” Larson stated.

“Chautauqua County has so much to offer business and industry, including abundant water and affordable electricity, but we must have shove-ready sites or our future will not be as bright as it could be, “Larson concluded.
