KEOW, in conjunction with the Jamestown Justice Coalition, will host a Kickoff Donation Drive to benefit our community neighbors on Saturday the 27th of November from 10am-12pm on the JCC campus’ Curtis Street parking lot (by the Community Garden/tennis courts). With the snow and cold already moving into the area, KEOW is gearing up in earnest to keep their famous lines stocked all winter and they need your help.
They will be accepting the following new store-bought & handmade cold-weather gear at the event.
All size winter:
- Scares/neck warmers
- Earmuffs/ear bands
In addition to child size (newborn-18), winter:
- Snow pants
“Our excitement, as we kickoff the initiatives 8th season, is off the charts,” said Georgeanna Guiffrida Ribbing, founds and Executive Director of KEOW. “The first donation drive of the season sets the pace for the rest of the winters activities and collection efforts. We hope to see many of our Jamestown friends at the event on the 27th.”
Keeping Each Other Warm joined hands with the Jamestown Justice Coalition (JJC) last season as both of the projects are built from a foundation of supporting our community members without bias.
“I had many people top me in the street last year as I hung items on the lines, just to say thank you to our donors,” said Shannon Bessete from the JJC. “The Jamestown Community College organization really gave us the support (during last years drive) that we needed in a difficult year.”
With COVID still on the radar, the organizers of the donation drive kindly ask that all individuals wear face masks and be mindful of social distancing while attending the event. Additionally, due to ongoing COVID precautions, organizers will only be accepting new items for this specific donation drive.
About Keeping Each Other Warm in Jamestown, NY
KEOW was created in 2014 with one major goal in mind – To help our less fortunate neighbors stay as warm as possible while outdoors. And so, the hanging of cold weather gear on clotheslines in various locations throughout our community began. This initiative is almost entirely propelled by the kind donations of our community members.
