Twice a year, the Jamestown Teachers Association (JTA) selects a charity or community organization to send a donation helping them continue to make an impact on the community. In recognition of the care, compassion and assistance that the Anew Center provides to victims of domestic violence in the Jamestown school district, the JTA held a fundraiser collecting $1,192, which was donated to the Salvation Army. The Anew Center plans to use the money to purchase items for special needs children who are being cared for in the Center.

JTA is a great supporter of their community. In addition to the Anew Center donation, the JTA’s Winter Social will benefit the Chautauqua County Humane Society. Members bring in items on the CCHS Wish List and the money raised from the 50/50 raffle will be delivered to the pets at our local shelter. In spring of 2020, JTA participated for the first time in the Pennies 4 Paws Campaign, a fundraiser for the CCHS. In the past, the JTA has also donated to CAP (Child Advocacy Program). For the last ten years, JTA families have rung the bell for the Salvation Army Red Kettle Campaign at the Chautauqua Mall and Tops on Washington Street. Last year, the JTA raised funds to provide lunches for the district’s Information Services Department, district support, bus drivers and maintenance staff. JTA is also a Babe Ruth team sponsor, Chautauqua Striders Walk basket raffle donor and YMCA Battle of the Businesses past participant.
