JHS Class of 1969
The JHS Class of 1969 will hold its 50th Reunion July 19 at the National Comedy Center Park and July 20 at the Doubletree Hotel. The cost of the Reunion is $50 per person, which covers either or both events.
Reservations are to be made with Sandy Larson Calalesina. She can be reached at firstname.lastname@example.org. or at 716-499-2082. The $50 per person payment should be sent to her at 109 Sunset Ave. Lakewood, NY. 14750 by July 12.
The Class has held a 5th, 10th, 15th, 20th, 25th, 30th, 35th, 40th and 45th Reunion.
The JHS Class of 1969 committed itself at its 45th Reunion in 2014 to award its first JHS Class of 1969 Scholarship during its 50th Reunion year, 2019. A $500 scholarship was presented in June to the first winner, JHS senior, Matthew Roehmholdt, who will be attending Keuka College in the Fall.
The leadership of the Class of 1969 was aware that the cost of a four-year college education had gone up way beyond the rate of inflation since 1969. Seniors graduating from JHS now and for decades to come will need all the financial assistance they can get.
Fred Larson, the JHS Class of 1969 President, said, “Our Class wanted to create a lasting gift to the young people graduating from Jamestown High School for generations to come.”
He added: “The Community Foundation was the logical mechanism to house the JHS Class of 1969 Scholarship. All gifts to the Scholarship are tax deductible.”
Checks should be made out to the “Jamestown High School Class of 1969 Fund” and mailed to the Chautauqua Community Foundation, Inc., 418 Spring St. Jamestown, NY 14701, or brought to the Reunion. A representative of the Community Foundation will be at the Doubletree Hotel on July 20 to explain more about the Class Scholarship Fund.
The Class expects approximately 200 to be in attendance for the 50th Reunion.
