The month of November began with one of JBC’s most highly anticipated events of the year. A total of thirteen schools attended the fall 2015 Careers in Business Day. On Wednesday, November 4, over 250 students, as well as 25 high school teachers and guidance counselors gathered at Jamestown Business College for the prospect of opportunity and enrichment.
The event featured presentations from area business professionals who highlighted their respective industries. The presentations offered background information and answered questions that students had pertaining to possible futures in each career field. Overall, the event was designed to give students a perspective into a variety of possible careers and inspire them to continue their education.
Speakers included Tory Irgang of United Way; Kelly Dawson, CPA; Vicki McGraw of Elegant Edibles; Sherry Hutley and Nick Trussalo of Jamestown Savings Bank Ice Arena; Kate Galbato of Francesca’s Floral Design/Brigiotta’s Markets; Holly Krueger of Libera; Brian Cersosimo of Southern Tier Xpress Hockey; and Gary Peters Jr. of Fresh Press Studios.
Director of Admissions, Brenda Salemme, said, “We are delighted with the turnout for our Fall Careers in Business Day! Students walk away with a true understanding of several fields in which a business degree would help them to succeed. In turn, we hope that events such as these help them make good career decisions for their futures. We are also very appreciative of the time and continued support from all of the business leaders involved from our community!”
