This Easter season Hillcrest Church will offer The Big Upper Room, allowing participants to experience intimately the details of the Passover. Venture back in time to the place where Jesus ate his last supper. Enjoy a delicious kosher dinner with your family and friends. Discover how Jesus’ death and resurrection redefined the amazing Jewish Passover. All of this is coming in The BIG Upper Room.
Pastor Mark Hinman, Hillcrest’s Lead Pastor, encourages entire families to participate in a Passover-like meal, just as families would have in biblical times. “In prior years, Hillcrest has offered the Dust of the Rabbi experience, which we rated PG-13 because of the graphic nature of the courtyard beatings and crucifixion scenes,” Pastor Hinman explains. “The BIG Upper Room is a family-friendly event. We do not neglect the unfolding drama of Holy Week, but The BIG Upper Room is a fun evening for adults and younger children.”
Creative Director Michele Harms explains, “In Bible times the upper room would be a modest size space. We have made it much larger to accommodate 70 guests for dinner.” Tables will feature traditional Seder plates with a sampling of Passover foods. Church lay-leaders Lyle Roof, Craig Lassinger and a dedicated cooking team will prepare a delicious meal that includes kosher chicken, vegetables and special Jewish Matzo dessert. Roof adds, “We want the dinner to be as authentic as possible, and we also want to make sure everyone enjoys the food.”
The BIG Upper Room is a one-hour dramatic dinner experience written and produced by Hillcrest. Performances are 5 and 7 PM, Good Friday, April 14 and Saturday, April 15, 2017. Advance reservations are required. Space is limited to 70 at each performance. The cost is $7 per person.
Contact the Hillcrest office at 483–3331 to make your reservation and choose “authentic” floor seating or seating at tables with chairs. Additional information and photo highlights from prior years are available at www.TheDustExperience.com.
