The Media One Radio Group and DoubleTree by Hilton in Jamestown are proud to announce WJTN’s heritage radio program, The Saturday Breakfast Party, will begin weekly broadcasts from the DoubleTree’s ‘Pearl City Hops’ dining room on Saturday, June 15.

Andrew Hill, Director of Broadcast Operations at Media One Radio Group, said, “we are thrilled to bring our iconic Saturday morning show to the beautiful Doubletree. It truly is an ideal pairing of a community based radio show with a hotel that is at the center of our community. Our audience is going to love the new, comfortable atmosphere and enjoy delicious breakfast options when coming in person to enjoy our show.”

The announcement comes nearly two months following the sudden closing of Friendly’s Restaurant in Brooklyn Square, where the program had been hosted weekly for nearly the past twenty years. Brandon Wade, General Manager of the DoubleTree, said “The history behind this show is truly amazing and I wanted the DoubleTree to have a part in keeping the history alive.” The DoubleTree by Hilton is a stunning redevelopment of a longstanding property at 150 West Fourth Street. The Hamister Group of Buffalo invested $19 million into outstanding accommodations, unparalleled dining and a superb banquet facility that both travelers and the local community can enjoy.

The Saturday Breakfast Party is one of the longest running audience participation radio shows in the United States, broadcasting from a number of local locations since 1946. Dennis Webster, veteran WJTN Personality and Saturday Breakfast Party Master of Ceremonies says, “Families have come to celebrate birthdays, anniversaries, retirements and other special occasions on this show for the past 73 years. For me to have had the opportunity to share some of these moments with our listeners has been a real honor.” Hill adds, “This is where our listeners come to celebrate life events and where community events are celebrated with our listeners.” The program hosts community groups and organizations regularly that wish to promote upcoming events and fundraisers to the radio audience.

Webster is joined weekly by staff announcers Alivia Roehrig and Sofia Isabella; organist Norm Gray; and Mary Henning – who has helped produce the community program for 50 years.

Anyone interested in making reservations for an upcoming broadcast should contact the DoubleTree directly at 716-488-7227. The Saturday Breakfast Party can be heard live on 1240 AM, 101.3 FM and www.WJTN.com each Saturday morning from 9:00 – 10:00 A.M.. The program’s encore edition airs 9:00 – 10:00 P.M. on Saturday as well.
