Lisa Haglund, President and CEO of Heritage Ministries, announced that Karen Hardick, CPA, of Getzville, NY, has been named Chief Financial Officer of the organization. Hardick will replace current Heritage CFO, Greg Fernandez, who will be retiring later this year.
Hardick comes to Heritage with a qualified background including many years in accounting and financial management, most recently serving as the Chief Financial Officer at Jericho Road Community Health Center. In her role of Chief Financial Officer at Heritage, she will be responsible for the oversight of all financial operations at Heritage and its affiliates, nationwide.
Haglund shared, “We thank Greg Fernandez for his dedication and service to Heritage as Chief Financial Officer. He was a calm and unwavering leader during unprecedented times. His expertise and guidance will continue to benefit our organization for generations. We wish him all the best in his retirement.”
She continued, “We welcome Karen’s expertise as we look forward to the future, knowing that she will work alongside our dedicated teams to support the Heritage mission. Her experience in not-for-profit and healthcare financial management will help Heritage to maintain a strong and healthy future as we work each day to promote Hope, Dignity, and Purposeful Living to all those entrusted to our care.”
Hardick obtained her Bachelor’s in Business Administration with a concentration in Accounting, magna cum laude, from the State University of New York at Buffalo in Buffalo, NY, and is the recipient of the Charles Waldo Haskins Award for the highest 5-part-combined score attained in New York State on the Uniform CPA exam, and the Elijah Watt Sells Award for performance with high distinction and outstanding merit from the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants. She is actively involved in her community, and currently holds a Board of Director appointment for Kingdom Bound Ministries, where she serves as the Treasurer.
Hardick, who currently resides in Getzville, NY, shared that she is drawn to the mission of caring and compassion Heritage is known for, along with the organization’s team-oriented culture and commitment to excellence, and is excited to join the organization, stating, “I love that Heritage is a faith-based and mission-focused organization. Aging isn’t easy. Our society doesn’t tend to value the aged, and often we find our seniors vulnerable and alone. Our seniors represent a great generation. They should be honored, respected, and treasured. I look forward to serving the work of Heritage with integrity and dedication, supporting the mission by providing strong financial management of Heritage.”
