The Haunting at the Mall, under the direction of event planner Scott Mekus of Eventz by Scott, opened its doors Friday, October 5 at the Chautauqua Mall in Lakewood.
The indoor haunted house, which is located on the second floor above JCPenney with an exterior entrance behind the store, is celebrating their sixth year of operation.
The dates of the “Exit 8 Motel” haunted house continues every Friday and Saturday through October 27 from 7:30 p.m. to 11:30 p.m.
The cost is $12 for discounted pre–sale tickets available at Don’s Car Wash, Second Chances Thrift Store, and Outrage Art in Jamestown or online at www.eventzbyscott.com. The price at the door is $15 per person.
New this year is an Express Check–In where you can skip the line to see the haunt for $23.
A special kid–friendly haunt on Saturday, October 27 from 3 to 6 p.m. for $5 per person during the mall–wide 2 to 4 p.m. Boo Bash trick or treat event will also take place.
A special party room at the Chautauqua Mall will be available for groups on haunted house evenings with discounted tickets available for all guests. Space is limited so pre–booking is required.
Since the start of the Halloween operation in 2013, a portion of the proceeds have benefitted the Chautauqua County Humane Society in Jamestown.
Another feature this year will be a live chainsaw carving demonstration and raffle of the iconic 6’ 8” tall Michael Myers character from the popular Halloween movie series.
Local chainsaw artist and community friend Vince Liuzzo of Sherwood Arts will be carving the well–known figure on the opening night of the haunted house on October 5 at Chautauqua Mall from 7 to 9:30 p.m. He will also be at Dipson Lakewood Cinema 8 on Friday, October 19 from 4:30 to 7:30 p.m. during the 5:05 p.m. and 7:30 p.m. anticipated new Halloween movie premiere.
Raffle tickets to win the statue will be $5 each or 3 tickets for $10 and are available through Liuzzo at (716) 338–4211 or Mekus. The winner will be announced on October 30.
