The Harmony Historical Society will be participating in the County Wide Open Doors at the Museum Day on Saturday, May 19th from 10:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. All buildings will be open and ready for tours.
We are also celebrating the receipt of a special gift. The family of the late Clair C. “Blinky” Litzinger has donated his replica jalopy to the historical society. This car, along with the society’s many other Roll-O-Bowl artifacts and information will be on display. The society will be acknowledging the Litzinger family’s donation at 12:30 p.m. followed by a screening of the 2008 Roll-O-Bowl documentary. For those who are not familiar with this great piece of local history, Roll-O-Bowl was a dirt track raceway designed by Don and Howard McNitt in 1955 and built on their grandmother’s farm on the Button Valley Road between Panama and Watts Flats. This racetrack launched the racing careers of many local drivers and has been memorialized through the documentary and an historical marker.
Please join us on this very special day. The Harmony Historical Society campus is located at 1943 Open Meadows Road, Ashville, NY.
