My name is Jamie Gustafson, and I am seeking re-election as your County Legislature in District 10 this fall. I have been on the County Legislature since July of 2022, and I carry a strong sense of hometown pride, integrity, honesty, and dedication. I currently serve on the Human Services and Planning and Economic Development Committees as a representative of the Legislature.
I am a lifelong resident of Chautauqua County and have lived, worked, worshiped, volunteered and educated our children in District 10 for the last 31 years. I currently live in the town of Busti with my husband Paul and our 23-year-old daughter Molly. Our oldest daughter, Madalyn, is now married and resides with her husband Damon Lewis. My husband served the Lakewood-Busti Community for 23 years as a Law Enforcement Officer, retiring in 2013 as the Sergeant Investigator. Both of our daughters graduated from Southwestern High School. Molly completed the first two years of her higher education at Jamestown Community College and will complete her master’s degree in early childhood education from Mercyhurst University in December. Molly is currently a first-grade teacher at Paul B Temple Elementary School in Kennedy N.Y. We are highly committed to this community and as your legislator I will continue to build on this strong sense of hometown pride.
I earned my associate degree at JCC, My bachelor’s in business management from Houghton College and my master’s in strategic leadership from St. Bonaventure. I am excited to see that JCC is now partnering with SUNY Fredonia to offer 3 bachelor’s degrees allowing students to earn their bachelor’s degrees while staying local. I believe that an expansion of this program will be an asset and help strengthen our community.
I have worked locally for M&T Bank for 33 years. I have spent the last 10 years as a Senior Business Banking Relationship Manger working closely with the Businesses in our District and all of Chautauqua and Cattaraugus Counties. Earlier in my banking career I worked with branch customers to help them fulfill their financial goals and thrive locally. Working for 33 years with those in our district has provided me an unmatched awareness of what our residents experience living in District 10 and Chautauqua County.
I am deeply involved in our community- I am the President of The Crèche Inc, Member of Women’s Club of Lakewood, Co-Chair of the Town of Busti Republican Committee and 12-year member of the Town of Busti Board of Assessment Review. Serving these organizations has provided me with knowledge on how things have evolved and changed over the past 31 years. A perspective that is unique to someone who has been fully immersed in our community for their entire life.
