Customers pass through the threshold, greeted with a hearty “Hello!” The staff banter cheerfully with their customers, more akin to a friendly conversation than a business transaction. Exceptional service isn’t the only thing available at this tidy corner shop – from a full service meat counter, fresh produce, and snacks to homemade salads and sausages, this store is fully stocked. “It’s more or less a superette,” owner Joe Gullotti explains. “We have everything here.”
Fresh Cut Meats and More puts its customers first, providing excellent goods with friendly service.
Fresh Cut Meats and More opened fifteen years ago on the corner of Forest Avenue and Newland Avenue, the former location of Pearson’s Market. “I opened up in May of ‘99,” Joe says. “I always wanted to get into grocery – long story short, I made a decision: ‘I’m gonna do it for myself.” When the opportunity arose to open the store in such a prime location, He jumped on it. “I knew it was a landmark. I bet they opened in the 1940s!”
The corner store is a spacious one, around 3000 square feet, with each inch packed with delightful products and goods. The store offers a wide range of grocery products, from snacks and chips to produce and dairy. “We cater to everyone’s needs,” Joe says. Customers looking for a bite to eat will find a full service deli to satisfy their cravings. From fresh made subs and sandwiches to Stromboli, they have many delicious choices for hungry patrons to choose from.
From homemade sausages, fresh ham loaf, Korv and smoked hams at Christmas, and more, their meat counter and deli is stocked with traditional favorites, seldom found anywhere else. “All year long, my meat department is the emphasis of the store.” Meats and cheeses are available to be sliced to order, with no minimum weight. “If someone wants two slices of bologna, they get two slices of bologna!” Joe explains with a grin. “They don’t have to buy it right out of the case.”
Fresh Cut Meats and More is located at 631 Newland Avenue in Jamestown, NY. They are open Monday through Saturday from 8 am to 8 pm, and Sundays from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. An off street parking lot is located kitty corner to the store, on Newland Avenue. Working hard to maintain the fun and friendly atmosphere, Joe and his staff welcome you to experience the nostalgic corner store feel for yourself. “Forty years ago they were on every corner, but now this is a dying breed.” Drop in for a bite to eat, a few groceries, or just to take a look around – there’s bound to be something in store for you!
