Three of the State University of New York at Fredonia School of Music’s jazz faculty, including the head of Jazz Studies, Dr. Nick Weiser, John Bacon on drums, and Elliott Scozzaro on saxophone, as well as Fredonia undergraduates, will be featured during a Nov. 12 performance hosted by the Fredonia Jazz Society.

The livestream event starts at 6:30 p.m. Tickets are $10 per household ($5 for students) and are available online at www.fredoniajazzsociety.com

Dr. Weiser has performed widely, including the jazz festivals of Perugia and Montreux. He has recently been heard in Santiago de Cuba, performed with the Glenn Miller Orchestra and collaborated with Wynton Marsalis.

Bassist/composer Joe Goehle’s creativity and versatility is in great demand, and he is frequently heard around Buffalo and New York City’s major jazz venues.
Mr. Bacon is well-known to Fredonia audiences as the leader of the Latin Jazz Ensemble that hosted Arturo Sandoval. He has developed a successful career of diverse skills as a percussionist, gig performer, teacher, band leader, and composer.

Mr. Scozzaro is a new member of the SUNY Fredonia faculty. With award-winning performances at some of the country’s outstanding jazz training programs, he has appeared at clubs and festivals throughout the United States.

SUNY Fredonia undergraduates August Bates and Matthew Erman tied as winners of the 2019 FJS Student Jazz Competition, and will perform as part of the jazz society event. The students and Mr. Scozzaro were originally scheduled to appear at last April’s canceled event.
