First Lutheran Church will have two Christmas Eve Candlelight Communion Services with the Contemporary Service at 4 p.m. and the Traditional Service at 10:30 p.m. preceded by a half hour of vocal and instrumental music prelude at 10 a.m. Pastor Daniel K. Nagle will preside at both worship services with a Christmas meditation.
The 4 p.m. Contemporary Service will be led by the Sacred Fire Praise Band directed by Kimberly King. Yuletide Carols will be sung by the congregation and Corinne King, guest soprano soloist, will sing a vocal solo entitled “Mary Did You Know?
The 10 p.m. Instrumental/Vocal Prelude will include organ music by Brian A. Bogey, Minister of Music and Organist; piano solos by Gail Espinoza and Julie Livengood; a trumpet duet by Lilly Melquist and Glenn Utter; the First Lutheran Good News Ringers, directed by Karen Linn with the brass ensemble consisting of Drew Laurin, Lilly Melquist, and Glenn Utter; and vocal solos by Marika Koch and Julie Costantini.
The 10:30 p.m. Festival worship service will feature congregational hymns accompanied by organ and the brass ensemble; choir anthems including ‘Hosianna” sung in Swedish; O Holy Night; Gloria, Angels Sing His Coming” sung in loving memory of Murray & Carol Marsh; and Under the Stars. The service will conclude with the candlelight singing of “Silent Night” by Franz Gruber. This is the 200th anniversary of the writing of this most beloved Christmas hymn. The public is cordially welcome to attend.
