Tanner’s Garage of Jamestown is hosting it’s First Annual New Book Drive from December 18th starting at 8am – December 31st ending at 5pm. The purpose of the drive is to get new books for those newborns to 18 year olds who are hospitalized. The goal is to collect 365 books – one for each day of the year.
You can donate new books in a variety of ways. You may mail your books directly to Tanner’s Garage, 226 Steele Street, Jamestown, NY 14701 or you can drop them off at Tanner’s Garage’s office on Steele Street in Jamestown. The office staff will be happy to add your donations to the shelves set aside for the drive. Another way you may participate is to give a monetary donation that will be used to buy more new books for the drive. That can be done either by mail or in person. Remember if you wish to either drop off drop books or a monetary donation that may be done Monday – Friday from 8am – 5pm, December 18th – December 31st.
Just a side note, some of you may have some gently used books that you would like to pass on to other children. You may do that too. Often, parents bring their children when they are getting their vehicle repaired, The children will be able to read a book and, also bring home with them one of these gently used books.
On New Year’s Day 2020, Mike Unger (Tanner’s Garage owner) along with Renee Domenico, 4year old Sadie and 7 year old Sierra will be handing out the new books. They will be giving them out to those hospitalized newborns to 18 year olds, They will visit UPMC/Chautauqua WCA, Warren General, Westfield and Brooks hospitals.
By participating in Tanner’s Garage First Annual Holiday New Book Drive, you will bring cheer to these hospitalized children. Your generosity will not only help give joy to these children but to their families, as well. You can spread the joy year round by continuing to donate books throughout the new year.
