The Fenton History Center’s annual living history day is Saturday, August 9 from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Organizers are looking to show off local collections. Many local hand craftsman and women will be at the event displaying their handiwork and demonstrating their crafts. “We are looking for more handicraft artists to join our day, says Joni Blackman, director, “we also invite anyone that has a collection they treasure and would like to share with the community to join us.” To be a part of the Fenton’s event call the Center at 664-6256 or email information@fentonhistorycenter.org.
Old Fashion Day will also feature the Fenton’s historical archaeology project with excavating happening all day long. Project manager Tom Greer, M.D. will be on hand to talk about the work, the progress and the plans for the project.
Live music by the “Thursday Morning Brass Band” and Picks and Hammers will be heard throughout the day. There will be special crafts and hands-on activities for children. They can experience washing clothes, making butter and digging for artifacts. Food will be available for purchase also.
