The deadline for citizens to register to vote for the Nov. 8th General Election is in its final two weeks, according to Chautauqua County Board of Elections Commissioners Norman P. Green and Brian C. Abram.
“Voter registrations forms are available at all village, town and city halls,” said Abram. “Forms can be ALSO found at all county post offices, libraries, DMV offices and here at the Board of Elections.”
Green added, “We also have registration forms available for download at votechautauqua.com. voters can also check on their personal voter registration at our election website.”
Voter Registration Deadlines:
MAIL REGISTRATION : Applications must be postmarked no later than Fri. Oct. 14th and received by a board of elections no later than Oct. 19th to be eligible to vote in the General Election or to change any voter’s party affiliation.
IN PERSON REGISTRATION: Voters may register in-person at the Board of Elections, 7 North Erie St. Mayville or at any of the three county DMVs no later than October 14th. Also, the elections office will be open Sat. Oct. 15th from 2 p.m. to 9 p.m. for voter registration and one stop absentee balloting if a voter is planning to be out-of-town on Election Day. (Please note that the deadline to change a voter’s party affiliation remains Friday Oct. 14.)
CHANGE OF ADDRESS: Currently registered voters who have moved within the county must notify the Board of Elections by Wed. Oct. 19th to be processed and entered in the poll records in time for the General Election. After Oct. 19th, registered voters who move or have moved within the county will need to report to their new poll sites and cast a provisional affidavit ballot to vote in the election
