Chautauqua Striders’ popular Youth Track and Field Development Program is slated for this summer and enrollment is now open.

Area youth are invited to participate in the program which begins on June 13 and will run on Mondays and Wednesdays until July 13. Each session will begin at 6 p.m., end at 8 p.m. and will be held at Strider Field at 195 Martin Road in Jamestown.

The program focuses on encouraging and promoting participation and competition in the sport of track and field for students aged 5-14. Parents and students are introduced to the sport of track and field, which allows young athletes to choose from various activities such as sprinting, hurdle jumping, running, vaulting, shot put, and others.

“This program has been enjoyed by youth across the area for several years,” said Chautauqua Striders Athletic Coordinator Lexi Lindamer. “We are excited to offer these activities once again for 2022 and are thrilled to invite young athletes to experience the exhilaration and enjoyment of the Youth Track and Field Development Program.”

Enrollment will be open until June 30th. Those who register before June 7 will receive a t-shirt. Late registration will be available at any practice or competition. The cost for an individual athlete is $75 while the cost for multiple athletes will be $60 per athlete. During the week of Independence Day, sessions will be held on Tuesday, July 5th and Wednesday, July 6th. Make-up dates will be reserved for July 18th and July 20th in case of cancellation of sessions due to weather.
