Chautauqua Chamber Singers to Present an “All American” Concert

Community Music Project will present an “All American” concert entitled “I’ll Sing On: American Folk Songs and Spirituals” on Sunday, May 7.

The Chamber Singers, under the direction on Rebecca Ryan and accompanied by Brian Bogey, will featured works by Harry Burleigh and Alice Parker, a 91 year old American choral icon, whom a few of our members had a chance to study with last summer at Chautauqua. The Chamber Singers will also feature a guest soloist, John Myers~bass, from Erie. Myers will be featured on the classic spirituals “Ride On King Jesus,” “The Trumpet Shall Sound,” and “Deep River.”

“I’ll Sing On” will be held at St. James Church on Sunday, May 7 at 4:00 p.m.

On May 5, CMP will present a free screening of “Robert Shaw, A Man of Many Voices’ at the Robert H. Jackson Center at 7:00 p.m. It is documentary about the rise of Robert Shaw and his genius as a choral conductor. It chronicles how music can bridge borders and enlighten people of all nationalities.
