Chamber to Assist Small Businesses in Local Job Fair
The Chautauqua County Chamber of Commerce recognizes that employee recruitment and retention is a crucial issue for local businesses. So, we are working with other organizations to help address this issue – with a special focus on small businesses that may not be able to attend a job fair in person.
The Chamber is a partner with Chautauqua Works in its upcoming South County Spring Job Fair, to be held Thursday, May 19 at the DoubleTree by Hilton Jamestown. For larger employers who may have multiple positions to fill, we encourage you to get a table and staff this event in person. The cost is just $100, which will include a table with two chairs and table sign, two continental breakfasts provided prior to the event where you can network with other employers, advertising and promotion of the event, and job seekers from Chautauqua and neighboring counties coming to apply for your positions.
For our smaller member businesses that may not be able to devote any staff time to this type of event, the Chamber of Commerce is working to provide you with access to potential employees as well. The Chamber will staff a table at this job fair and will aggregate standardized applications based on the type of work people are seeking: restaurant, retail, small office, small manufacturing, or healthcare. This is a service of your investment in the Chamber of Commerce. In order to be included in the distribution of applications after the event, we ask that small Chamber member businesses register on our website. That will ensure that we can contact you right after the job fair and pass along applications for your review.
The deadline for employers to register for the Job Fair is May 6. The Chamber has posted a convenient registration form for small member businesses on our web calendar for May 6. This is a free service for Chamber member businesses.
We have also included a downloadable form on our website for larger businesses that may want to staff their own table. That form should be returned to Chautauqua Works by May 6.
The hiring process can be challenging for businesses of all sizes. Your Chamber of Commerce wants to help smooth out the rough spots for you. Please reach out to us if you have any questions.
