The Chautauqua County Baseball Umpires’ Association has teamed with local high schools in past years to present the Baseball Showcase at Russell E. Diethrick Park. We hope to be able to continue our partnerships and the Showcase for many years to come.

Since 2009, with our share of the concession money and gate receipts (after operation expenses are taken care of), the umpires have established a Baseball Scholarship to be awarded to a Chautauqua County High School Senior who is planning on continuing his baseball career at a College Institution.

As with the many scholarships awarded in our communities, the umpires have established criteria for this award which will be mandatory for all applicants, and a strict time frame which must be followed by the applicants. Enclosed with this letter is the list of said criteria, along with an application. If a coach feels he has more than one deserving senior, please feel free to copy the application. We hope to notify the recipient of the scholarship at their graduation ceremony. The actual award will be given in the spring of his college freshman year after it is a given that he is on the spring baseball roster.

We ask that you please review this letter and all the documents related to this scholarship opportunity and heed the strictness of the criteria and time frame.

We are very excited to be able to offer this award to a deserving baseball player from our area and help a young man further his educational and baseball career. We consider it an investment in all of our futures.
Thank you for your service to baseball and the student athletes of our communities and for assisting us with this exciting project.
