The Busti Historical Society was disheartened to announce late August the cancellation of the annual Busti Apple Festival, one of the area’s premier craft and fall fests. However, community members still have a chance to take home a ‘piece’ of the tradition with a Drive-In Pie Sale, set for September 26.
Individuals can visit the Busti Historical Society at 3443 Lawson Rd, Jamestown, September 26 between 11 AM to 2 PM, or sold out, to purchase handmade pies, usually created specifically for the Apple Fest. Varieties available will be: apple, blueberry, blackberry, peach, cherry, raspberry, and straw berry rhubarb. Customers are asked to stay in their car and enter the one way drive-way, place their order and receive their pies. Pies will be frozen with instructions for home baking. Pies are priced at $15 each.
All proceeds of the pie sale will benefit the Busti Historical Society, which maintains and operates the 1839 Busti Grist Mill, the miller’s house, the Busti Museum, and the demonstration building. They also present the Busti Apple Harvest Festival, the favorite historical craft fair of southwestern New York, traditionally every September on the last Sunday of the month.
