BPU Announces Holiday Schedules

The Jamestown Board of Public Utilities (BPU) announces changes to its office hours and Solid Waste collection schedules during the upcoming holiday season.

BPU Offices will be closed on Friday, December 22, and on Christmas Day, Monday, December 25.

The Customer Service Office re-opens for business at 9 a.m. Tuesday, December 26.

Garbage and recycling normally collected on Monday will be picked up on Tuesday, December 26. Tuesday collection moves to Wednesday; Wednesday pick-up shifts to Thursday; Thursday collection takes place on Friday; and Friday collection moves to Saturday, December 30.

For the New Year’s holiday, BPU offices will be closed on Friday, December 29, and on New Year’s Day, Monday, January 1. The Customer Service Office re-opens for business at 9 a.m. Tuesday, January 2.

New Year’s Day also falls on a Monday. The Monday New Year’s holiday means that Solid Waste collection for the week moves to the next day. Normal Monday pick-up will be collected on Tuesday, January 2. Tuesday pick-up takes place on Wednesday; Wednesday collection happens on Thursday; Thursday pick-up shifts to Friday; and Friday collection occurs on Saturday.

Customers who need to pay bills after-hours are reminded that on-line payments may be made by credit card, debit card and e-check at www.jamestownbpu.com and by phone at 661-1660, extension 3, twenty-four hours a day. Customers also may leave checks in drop-off boxes located at the top of the BPU’s “D” driveway, 92 Steele Street; outside City Hall on Tracy Plaza; inside the vestibule of the Jamestown Police Department entrance on Second Street; and outside the Town of Ellicott Building in Falconer. Payments left after-hours in drop boxes should only be made by check.
