A benefit in honor of MS patient Nichole Johnson is being held Sunday, Nov 8 from 1 to 6 p.m. at the Busti Church of God. A chicken and biscuit dinner will be served and a raffle for 50 baskets from local businesses and friends, plus donations of larger items for a silent auction. Pies, breads and all types of baked goods will also be available for purchase, as well as Team Nichole t-shirts, wristbands, 2016 calendars supporting her fund and more.
Joe Hohman, a popular magician from Erie, is coming at1:30. Face painting will also entertain the children while adults browse the vast array of baskets.
Nichole is a candidate for Stem Cell Replacement Therapy. This procedure will include chemo to scrub the infected stem cells, then reinserting the cleansed cells back into her body. While this is a simplified explanation, the process is complicated by travel to Chicago for the procedure, time spent there for treatment (8 weeks in a hotel, 4 to 7 weeks in the hospital), medications and meals. Meanwhile, ongoing mortgage and utilities will still need to be paid at home. Time off of work could be up to 6 months, thereby crippling her source of income. Her estimated out of pocket expenses for the medical costs alone are about $45,000.
Tickets for this benefit will be available at the door, $10 for adults and $5 for children ages 10 and under. The Busti Church of God Family Life Center is located at 996 Forest Ave Ext. Jamestown, NY. Questions may be directed to Sally Ferguson at 716-488-1254.
