The Jamestown Branch of the American Association of University Women (AAUW) will hold its 61st annual AAUW What’s New Fair on Saturday, November 19th and Sunday, November 20th from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. and 10 a.m. to 4 p.m., respectively, at the Hamilton Collegiate Center on the Jamestown Community College (JCC) campus in Jamestown.
The two day event features more than local 50 merchants and vendors displaying new products and services in time for the forthcoming holiday season. Admission is $3 for adults, $1 for JCC/JBC students with ID, $1 for children 6 to 12. Children five and under are admitted free. Ample parking is available on the JCC campus.
AAUW advances equity for women and girls through advocacy, education, research and philanthropy. Proceeds from the Fair support scholarships for JCC and Jamestown Business College (JBC) female graduates who are going on to earn their four year degrees.
Santa and Mrs. Claus will also visit each day to chat with children and adults who wish to confide their Christmas wishes. The AAUW will feature a table of handmade and other items. The AAUW Sweet Shoppe offers a variety of homemade baked goods ranging from small breads, fudge, pies, candies and cookies. Door prizes from participating merchants will be given away each hour and the winner must be present to win. The famous AAUW Gingerbread House supplies attendees with personalized gingerbread men at $3 each; 2 for $5; or 3 for $8. AAUW also runs a What’s New Fair basket raffle. Raffle tickets cost $1 per ticket, $5 for 7 tickets, or $10 for 20 tickets. Prizes are from local merchants, restaurants and other organizations. Winners do not have to be present to win.
Food is available through the JCC Food Service, including homemade soups and chili, macaroni and cheese, assorted sandwiches and wraps including chicken salad, tuna salad, side salads, chips, soft drinks, coffee and tea.
A reduced priced AAUW Jamestown Branch membership of $45.50 will be available at the Fair for a membership through June 30, 2017 (the regular price is $70.). Checks and cash will be accepted.
