Zonta Club of Jamestown joined with Zontians around the world in stating NO to violence against women. Through service and advocacy Zonta empowers women to achieve their potential and to live without the fear of violence. Locally, these efforts are achieved by donating clothing to area hospitals for women who have been victims of violence.
These women often succumb to another discomfort – their clothing is kept as evidence when they are at the hospital and they are left with nothing to wear when they leave the hospital. Zonta Club of Jamestown provides area hospitals with sweatshirts, sweatpants, and underwear to give to these women in need. Recently, Zonta delivered a supply of clothing to UPMC Chautauqua, Brooks, and Westfield Hospitals. Unfortunately, due to high demand, the supply is at an all-time low.
UPMC Chautauqua is with great gratitude Zonta Club of Jamestown has been supporting this project and these women for a long time. “We don’t know what these women would do without their support,” stated Jen Buck, senior professional staff nurse “We never want to think that the violence is out there, sadly it is, and that’s why we are very fortunate to have clubs like Zonta that support these women.”
Zonta Club of Jamestown is an organization empowering women worldwide through service and advocacy. Zonta is asking the public to help with this worthwhile service project. Please consider sending a financial donation to Zonta Club of Jamestown, PO Box 913, Jamestown, NY 14702 so that Zonta may continue to meet the needs of women in our community. Zonta appreciates your support.
