Warming the Hands and Hearts of G.A. Learning Center Students

Joanne Malecki from French Creek, NY, and an RSVP Volunteer, makes it her life’s work to bring warmth and caring to people throughout the community. Each year she dedicates 1,000 hours of volunteer time to create handmade items for non-profits, schools, healthcare agencies, and wherever there is a need.

Shannon Ball, physical education teacher at the G.A. (Gustavus Adolphus) Learning Center was thankful to receive the donations for the youth. “This is such a thoughtful gesture,” she said. “The youth love to go outside and enjoy the snow and now they will be warm and comfortable.”

The G.A. Learning Center is an approved 853 school serving area students and those residing in the G.A. Residential Center, with additional supports to meet their needs. The school is licensed to educate 90 students in grades 1-12. Using a multidisciplinary approach, staff works to meet the individualized needs of students to ensure they are successful during their time at G.A. To learn more log onto www.gafamilyservices.org.
