Timothy Frerichs to Present Historical Book Forms at Prendergast Library

Timothy Frerichs will be exhibiting artist books at Prendergast Library during September 1-29 as an element of a 2017 Artist in Community Grant. The displayed books all utilize historical bindings ranging from an early single-quire codex to Carolingian and Chinese stab binding. A number of the books contain artistic concepts, and several are blank binding examples. This exhibit is partially funded by the New York State Council on the Arts Decentralization grant program supported by Governor Andrew Cuomo and the New York State Legislature, and administered by the Cattaraugus County Arts Council.

Timothy Frerichs received a Bachelor of Arts from St. Olaf College, MN, and a Master of Arts and Master of Fine Arts from the University of Iowa. Frerichs has received numerous national awards, and his drawings, installations, prints, and artist books have been widely exhibited internationally and nationally. His artwork is included in international and national public, corporate, and private collections. Frerichs is a Professor of Art at Fredonia State University, and his artworks can be viewed at www.timothyfrerichs.com.
