Crimson brick and glowing glass meets eye of patrons as they enter, a familiar sight in the heart of downtown Jamestown. Through the door, an expansive gleaming bar, intricate copper ceiling, and glimmering mirrors grace what once was marred by fire. The Pub has reopened its doors, greeting regulars and newcomers alike as old friends. “It’s been fabulous,” Sam Lisciandro, manager of The Pub, exclaims. “I have people coming in that haven’t been in in years.”

The Pub offers a multitude of favorites such as Beef on Wick, homemade soups, pastas, and pizza. Daily specials are also offered, an ever changing variety displayed on blackboards behind the bar. The bar also features delicious sandwiches, fresh salads, and pub burgers that make for a great accompaniment to a cold brew. “We have an updated tap system,” Sam says with a smile. “And any kind of liquor or spirits they would like.” With a full bar, bottled and draft beers, no one leaves with a dry palette.

“It’s just a fun place,” Sam says, his eyes passing over the refurbished bar. “I think it’s generational – parents are leaving as their kids are coming in. It’s a tradition.” Family owned and operated, this classic meeting spot is a mainstay for locals and visitors, providing a many a meaningful place to call ‘home’. This year in December, they are celebrating 50 years in business, providing excellent service and atmosphere for half a century. Pub is also involved in the community, playing host to live music in the upcoming Local Music Showcase on Saturday, September 6th, 2014. Musical guests will be featured starting at 6:15 p.m. “It’s always a great event with a good turn out – and it goes to a great cause.”
After the January 6th fire, the community and staff of the Pub banded together to rebuild the entire space. “We actually gutted the place, electrical and everything,” Sam explains. On July 22, 2014, they reopened their doors, and have been serving their loyal customers ever since. “The Mayor’s office helped a ton, the Jamestown Renaissance Corporation, Vince DeJoy – they were critical in helping us reopening. It’s been amazing and overwhelming.”
The Pub is located at 209 North Main Street in Jamestown, NY. They are open Monday through Thursday from 11:30 a.m. to 12:00 a.m., and Friday and Saturday from 11:30 a.m. to 2 a.m. For more information, visit their website at thepubjamestown.com or give them a call at 716-488-6036.
