You are invited to welcome autumn with a hike on the splendid grounds at the Audubon Community Nature Center.
Audubon will provide the landscape and Senior Naturalist Sarah Hatfield will lead you through the woodlands on the first day of autumn, Friday, September 22, 2017.
At this 3 to 4 p.m. Happy Hour Hike, you can explore Audubon’s trails to see autumn color the world.
There is a flurry of activity in the natural world as everything gets ready for the lean season. Animals are packing away food, as are some plants, while others are sending their offspring out into the world as their final gesture.
Meet new people, learn a little bit, and enjoy the season. After the hike, bring a bit of cash to enjoy a (completely optional) follow-up beverage at a local restaurant with your fellow nature-nerds.
Remember to wear shoes that are suited to the trails. The walk will happen rain or shine, so come dressed for the weather.
Fee is $8 per person, $6 for Nature Center members.
Reservations are appreciated by Thursday, September 21, 2017. Call (716) 569-2345 during business hours or visit the Programs page at auduboncnc.org. Walk-ins are welcome.
Audubon Community Nature Center is located at 1600 Riverside Road, one-quarter mile east of Route 62 between Jamestown, New York, and Warren, Pennsylvania.
Audubon Community Nature Center builds and nurtures connections between people and nature by providing positive outdoor experiences, opportunities to learn about and understand the natural world, and knowledge to act in environmentally responsible ways.
