On November 6, three key departments at Lutheran in Jamestown were honored with a Regional Safety First Award while another individual was presented with a Regional People First Award. The recognitions were presented by Morrison Community Living and their parent company, Compass Group, as part of their national “Be a Star” recognition program.

“We are extremely proud of our dietary, maintenance, and environmental services departments for excelling in what they do,” said Tom Holt, president and CEO for Lutheran. “We see their hard work and dedication every day, but winning a regional award from their management company is a big deal for us and for them,” he said. Compass Group services more than 2,000 hospitals, senior living communities, and integrated healthcare systems in 48 states. One of their subsidiaries, Morrison Community Living, manages all three departments at Lutheran.

Receiving the Tretiak region’s Safety First Award on behalf of Lutheran were Joseph Gaughn, Director of Maintenance, Brenda Johnston, Director of Environmental Services, and David Bollman, Director of Dining Services. Sara Ferrerio, Director of Clinical and Wellness Support at Morrison Community Living, presented the award to the team. The staff at Lutheran received the recognition for supporting outside community activities and promoting safety best practices throughout each department. Additionally, Ferrerio presented Kristen Washburn with the Tretiak region’s People First Award.

“Kristen is our Lead Housekeeper at Lutheran,” said Johnston. “Receiving our team award from Compass Group means a lot to us, but it also means a lot to me as a manager to see Kristen be recognized for her hard work as well,” said Johnston. The People First Award was presented to Washburn for her dedicated work enriching the lives of seniors on the Lutheran campus.
