St. Mary’s Cemetery Restoration Committee
The St. Mary’s Cemetery Restoration Committee of Guernsey Hollow continues to focus on restoring the cemetery to its rightful place in the South Valley community. Significant progress has been made. With that in mind, numerous projects are at various stages of completion. Currently, genealogical research intended to shed new light on the early community is proceeding, restoration and plans for the re-installation of the cemetery fence are ongoing, security options for the cemetery are being examined and evaluated, and burial records are being sought.
This year, the cemetery restoration committee will be hosting our seventh annual St. Patrick’s Day Fundraiser at the Horseshoe Inn in Onoville, New York on Sunday March 10, 2019 beginning at 2 p.m. The fun, that includes live Irish Music, corned beef and cabbage dinners, 50-50 drawings, a Chinese auction and a raffle for a Henry 30-30 hunting rifle with octagon barrel and brass receiver.
The committee welcomes new information from anyone that will help to identify records of individuals who are buried at the cemetery. Committee meetings, held at the Horseshoe Inn, are regularly announced in the Jamestown Post Journal. All are welcome to attend.
