Local poetry performance group, Rhema Poetry, will be celebrating their four year anniversary this June, and in commemoration the team is hosting a community fundraiser to help raise money and awareness for the Salvation Army Anew Center.
The Anew Center is a local non-profit organization dedicated to providing and promoting quality intervention services for survivors of domestic violence, sexual assault and rape, and sexual abuse. They are committed to assisting with shelter and protection, legal and medical advocacy, facilitating support groups, offering training and education, and other impactful resources.
The event will be held on Saturday June 15th at Hartley Park in the village of Lakewood, and will begin at 2:30pm. There will be a lineup of local musicians and poets, raffles and silent auctions, children’s activities, and more. It is a free event, open to the public and though it will be family-friendly, due to the nature of the Anew Center’s missions, they are cautioning parents of young ones that there will be some triggering topics covered by some of the poets and speakers.
If you are interested in offering financial support or donating an item or service to be raffled off on the day of the event, please contact Rhema founder Faith Gibbons at:
