The 2015 Tony Award-winning Broadway production of An American in Paris will be presented in high definition on the big screen on Thur., Sept. 27, at 7 p.m. at the 1891 Fredonia Opera House.

An American GI’s chance encounter with a beautiful young dancer leads Paris to become the backdrop to a sensuous, modern romance of art, friendship and love in the aftermath of war.

This breathtakingly beautiful Broadway musical, inspired by the Oscar-winning MGM film, tells the impassioned story of discovering love in the “City of Light.”  Featuring the gorgeous music and lyrics of George and Ira Gershwin, stunning designs and show-stopping choreography, the production earned a record-setting 28 five-star reviews from critics.

Nominated for 12 Tony Awards, including Best Musical, Best Actor, Best Actress, Best Supporting Actor, Best Supporting Actress and Best Direction, the show won four Tonys, including for Best Choreography and Best Orchestration.

This not-to-be-missed high-energy production stars original Broadway leads Robert Fairchild as Jerry Mulligan and Leanne Cope as Lisse Dassin, and was captured live in performance during its West End run for exclusive screenings in cinemas throughout the US.

Called by the Wall Street Journal an “old-fashioned, big-hearted spare-no-expense Broadway romance!,” the production runs two hours, 40 minutes with one intermission.
